JST 206 – Six insights into the magnetically motivating power of purpose (my most important article so far – please read)

Posted on December 19, 2017 by Eugenia Zelaya

“It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

-Marianne Williamson
Spiritual Author

I’m out of the office doing CEO 1:1 intensives this week, so we’re re-running one of my most important articles to date.

Many of us have been told we need to “find our purpose”. But what is purpose, and how do you find it? It turns out that a more valuable question to ask is, “What gets in the way of it?”. In this article, you’re going to discover six key insights into the magnetically motivating power of purpose (by the way: this article has a number of links in it, so if you can make the time, I encourage you to read it slowly and explore the links so you can get the deepest possible sense of what I’m pointing to). TTE 126 – Stanhope, bulletproof & going for gold

Posted on December 15, 2017 by Eugenia Zelaya

1. A quote I’m resonating with this week
I’ve long been a fan of the raunchily brilliant American comedian, Doug Stanhope. He was interviewed on the Joe Rogan Podcast last week, and I really enjoyed listening to him. During the interview, he spoke about his audience of choice:

“I paid my dues – I made my bones to have a small niche fan base that are unoffendable.”

2. An interview I’m pumped about
A couple of weeks ago I was interviewed by Dave Asprey of Bulletproof Coffee fame. The episode just landed and I’m really excited. Why?

Because his podcast gets over 250,000 downloads per episode so a whole new audience of people are going to be introduced to the principles behind clarity this week (I’ve already started getting LinkedIn messages from new friends who have been blown away by the interview)! Read More →

TTE 125 – Hitch, Jerry and Retirement

Posted on December 7, 2017 by Eugenia Zelaya

1. A quote I’m resonating with this week
I’m a big fan of the Exponential Wisdom podcast with Dan Sullivan and Peter Diamandis. They’re both very focused on the different ways that exponential technologies are transforming our world. In this week’s episode they’re talking about human longevity, and Diamandis made a really powerful statement:

“I think of retirement as a leading cause of death because you give up and you slow down and it’s just game over.”

2. An audiobook I’m really enjoying
I’m listening to Hitch-22, the autobiography of Christopher Hitchens, read by the author. Whatever you think of Hitchens’ theological views, this is great stuff. He’s as articulate as he is brilliant, and it’s wonderful to hear him tell so many fascinating tales from his life. You can read the reviews and listen to a sample here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hitch-22-A-Memoir/dp/B006QXFWKI/ref=tmm_aud_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr= Read More →

JST 204 – The WD40 of Influence and Impact

Posted on December 5, 2017 by Eugenia Zelaya

“Everything about us – our brains, our minds and our bodies – is geared towards collaboration in social systems. This is our most powerful survival strategy, the key to our success as a species, and it is precisely this that breaks down in most forms of mental suffering.” Bessel van der Kolk

I’m doing something special this week (I’ll tell you about it before I sign off) so I’m re-running JST 122, one that I originally wrote during the 2016 Life Transformation Retreat in Lanzarote with Jan and Chip Chipman, where we enjoyed a space for genuine transformation.

So what creates the space for transformation? In this article, you’re going to discover the “WD40” of transformational influence and impact: clarity of connection. Read More →

TTE 124 – Coffee, Corgan and a flippin’ robot!

1. A quote I’m resonating with this week
I’m currently reading “Hitch-22”, Christopher Hitchens’ autobiography. He opens with a quote from Richard Dawkins’ book “Unweaving The Rainbow”. Whatever you think of Dawkins and his beliefs, this is fantastic writing:

“We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here. We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?” Read More →

JST 203 – What if you piss people off?

Posted on November 28, 2017 by Eugenia Zelaya

“I made a decision to write for my readers,
not to try to find more readers for my writing.”
– Seth Godin

This week’s article relates to a brief post I wrote on LinkedIn recently, and something fascinating that happened as a result of it. I wrote the LinkedIn post in response to a question a young man I know had asked in a group I’m a member of. His worry was that if he expressed himself honestly / authentically online, he’d upset people. But what unfolded was an object lesson in itself. First, here’s the post: Read More →
