#TCP015 - DEMO: Social Anxiety and Awakening the True Self – Thriving Coaches Podcast
Released 31st Oct 2018     Subscribe: iTunes

Last weekend was module 3 of the 10-month Clarity Coach Training programme. On the very first module, back in September, I did a 1:1 coaching session with Anna Foakes. Anna is a therapist who’s passionate about making a difference to her clients, but who experienced stress and “social anxiety” when she was in larger groups of people. She volunteered to do a coaching demo with me, and it turned it to be fascinating for a number of reasons...

#TCP014 - The Fundamentals of Clarity Coaching – Thriving Coaches Podcast
Released 31st Oct 2018     Subscribe: iTunes

In this episode of the Thriving Coaches Podcast, you’re going to hear the introduction to a session that I did at the Realising Potential Conference.

You’ll hear me lay out my approach to coaching people from a principles-based understanding. What I also explain is why coaching from this understanding is so different to how I used to coach (when I was an NLP coach) and to how a lot of people approach coaching. So if you’re interested in moving to coaching from a principles understanding this might be particularly interesting to you.

#TCP013 - The Search is Over (Except When it Isn't) – Thriving Coaches Podcast
Released 19th Sep 2018     Subscribe: iTunes

In this episode we are doing something a little different. This past Sunday (Sep 30th) was international Podcast Day and so to celebrate it we are re-releasing the most popular episode of any of our podcasts.

The original episode went out on the Results Mindset Podcast a year ago and it’s a keynote that I did at the unlimited conference in Finland called ‘The Search is Over (except when it isn’t)… by far our most listened to show.

#TCP012 - Procrastination, Productivity and Religious Beliefs – Thriving Coaches Podcast
Released 19th Sep 2018     Subscribe: iTunes

This week’s episode is a coaching demo I did during the first module of this year’s Clarity Coach Training programme which kicked off a couple of weeks ago. We record all the modules so we can give the footage to the participants to review, as well as share it with the people who had to miss the first module, and this coaching demo was a shocker for everyone who saw it. Here’s why: The client, Karen, was struggling to be productive, take action and make progress on growing her coaching practice. She said she knew what she should be doing but just wasn’t doing it. Can you relate to that?

#TCP011 - Why clients hire you as a coach – Thriving Coaches Podcast
Released 5th Sep 2018     Subscribe: iTunes

In this episode you’re going to hear me answer a question from a coach called Max, who asked what is it that has people hire you as a coach? Max had always been told that you need to “blow a client’s mind” during your enrolment conversation, and he’d noticed that I seemed to be taking a completely different approach (this was during one of my coach training programmes where I’d just been demonstrating an enrolment session with a client called Sarah).

#TCP010 - Dealing with difficult / challenging people – Thriving Coaches Podcast
Released 22nd Aug 2018     Subscribe: iTunes

In this episode you’re going to hear a group session I did in Amir Karkouti’s ‘What the F*#$ Are The Principles?’ group and it was not only a lot of fun (the session was called “Outsmart Jamie Smart”); it was also super-impactful for a lot of people, so I wanted to share it with you. Here’s what it was about: I asked people to think of the most difficult and challenging people to discuss your work with – especially clients – and then they came on the session LIVE and role-played those people and scenarios so I could demonstrate how I’d handle it.

#TCP009 – Coaching Demo – Dealing with Impostor Syndrome, Self-doubt and Self-belief
Released 15th Aug 2018     Subscribe: iTunes

This episode is one I’ve shared on my Get Clarity podcast this week, but it’s super-relevant to coaches, therapists and transformation professionals, and here’s why: it’s a coaching session I did with a coach who was struggling with self-doubt and lack of self-belief.

Emma Broome is an elite performance coach, with a background in elite performance herself as an aerial skier. But when she first reached out to me, she told me she was really struggling with impostor syndrome and self-doubt. And she was surprised when I said, “That's a bit of a specialty of mine, so we'll get that handled, probably during the first week of the programme.” I invited her to do a coaching demo with me during a Thriving Coaches Blueprint bootcamp, and the recording you’re about to hear is the result. By the way, 2 weeks ago she posted on Facebook saying, “I had my first enrolment conversation 10 days ago, did my first proposal last week and had it accepted yesterday! I now have my first half day intensive in 10 days time.” So things have really shifted since she and I had this coaching session.

#TCP008 - Demo – Money Beliefs and Signing up Coaching Clients
Released 25th July 2018     Subscribe: iTunes

This episode is a coaching session I did with coach and therapist Pete Bryceland nearly 4 years ago during the beta test of the Thriving Coaches Blueprint programme. I did the session in a group setting and the reason this may be of particular interest to you is that in the 3 weeks following the session Pete signed up two coaching clients on packages of 10 thousand pounds each. So he made more money in that month than he’d made in the previous year.

#TCP007 - Unpacked – Weight Loss and Self Care Behind the Scenes
Released 25th July 2018     Subscribe: iTunes

In this episode you’re going to hear me ‘unpacking’ a coaching session I did with a woman called Pam Featherstone – an episode you may have heard on my podcast a couple of weeks ago. You’ll hear me go through the whole coaching session, explaining what I’m doing and responding to with Pam. Just in case you didn’t hear the original session, here’s the backstory: Pam took her coaching business from zero to 1 million in under 3 years and became Action Coach’s no.1 global coach of the year, but she struggled with her own health and wellbeing. This is something I see with a lot of coaches and therapists and transformation professionals – they’re brilliant at support other people but sometimes need a little help taking care of themselves.

#TCP006 - Demo – Weight Loss and Self Care
Released 11th July 2018     Subscribe: iTunes

This episode pf The Thriving Coaches podcast features a coaching session I did during the 2017 Clarity Coach Training programme with a very successful coach called Pam Featherstone.

Pam took her coaching business from zero to 1 million in under 3 years and became Action Coaches No. 1 global coach of the year. In fact she was the first ever UK coach to achieve their global award (previously it had been won by coaches from the USA and Australia).

Pam currently gives 80% of all her earnings to charity and has delivered 12000 coaching hours over the course of 5 years but she came on the Clarity Coach training programme to increase her impact with her clients even more and to experience her own personal transformations.

In this session you’re going to hear me working with Pam on caring for her own health and wellbeing. This is something I see with a lot of coaches, therapists and transformation professionals – they’re brilliant at support other people but sometimes need a little support in taking care of themselves.

By the way the certified Clarity Coach Training programme is formally open for registration and it’s not just for coaches, we’ve had all sorts of people go through the programme including computer programmers, doctors, call centre workers, layers, parents PR specialists, therapists, office workers, entrepreneurs, surgeons, people who are already coaches and consultants and trainers and even a professional footballer and if you’re interested it’s worth knowing that we’re not running the programme next year so the intake that’s starting this September (2018) is the last chance you’ll get to join us until 2020 at the very earliest.

#TCP005 - Public Speaking – How to Share the Principles with Any Audience
Released 4th July 2018     Subscribe: iTunes | Stitcher

In this episode of The Thriving Coaches podcast you’re going to hear an excerpt from the most recent Clarity Coach Training programme where several students were in situations where they wanted to share the principles behind Clarity with an audience, but they didn’t understand how it was practical (or even possible) to do so. The subjects they were due to be talking about were “gut health”, “business strategy” and “exam results”.

The principles behind clarity are present in every human experience so, as you’ll hear, it turns out to be quite a bit simpler than you might expect.

By the way, the certified Clarity Coach Training programme is going to be formally opening for registration in the next couple of weeks. We’ve had people from all walks of life go through the programme including computer programmers, doctors, call centre workers, lawyers, parents, PR specialists, therapists, office workers, entrepreneurs, surgeons, people who are already coaches, consultants, trainers and even a professional footballer.

#PCP016: Christina Cooper - Effortless Client Enrolment
Released 28 March 2018     Subscribe: iTunes | Stitcher

In this week’s episode you will hear a recording of a coaching session that I did with one of my clients - Christina Cooper. Christina is a coach and a therapist and she’s already transitioned from charging by the hour to enrolling clients onto longer term coaching packages but as you’ll hear in this session she had some ‘teething pains’ with that, feeling uncomfortable about talking to clients about money and as you’ll hear, all of that turned out to be what I call a grounding issue. The cool thing about this is that within a few days of us doing the session Christina enrolled a client on a 2.5k 6-month coaching package. In this week’s episode you will hear a recording of a 1-1 coaching session I did with one of my clients Tanya Alexander. Tanya is a professional photographer, Therapist and life coach and she is doing a programme of mine called ‘Escape Velocity – The Transition Blueprint’ and during that programme people get 1-1 coaching in a group context. When Tanya came on the call for her coaching session she wanted to get coaching around a number of fears – agoraphobia, claustrophobia, fear of flying and generalised anxiety, and so the reason I thought that would be such a great topic for this podcast is because the solution with those is the same as it is for ALL our fears, worries and anxieties. #PCP014: Nick Bottini - Winning at the Best Selling Book Game
Released 28 February 2018     Subscribe: iTunes | Stitcher

This episode is a little bit different to the usual format because it’s the recording of a conversation I had with Clarity Coach and Mentor, Nick Bottini. I met Nick a couple of years ago when he was in the beta-test group for the programme that became 'The Thriving Coaches Blueprint’. Nick is a coach; he wanted to grow his practice and he got more and more interested in the principles behind clarity. Now Nick has written a book called ‘Just Play’. He’s doing amazing stuff, some of which you will hear about in this episode. We got on a call because he wanted to explore ideas about how he could get his book to reach as many people as possible and how to get it on to the bestseller lists. Part of it is a coaching session and part of it is a chat between friends about something he wants to accomplish - something I have experience of. But as you’ll hear at certain points in the conversation it goes much deeper and into the domain of Clarity Coaching and (as you’ll hear), that’s where the turning point in the conversation is. #PCP012: Liz Scott - Coaching Packages, Connection and the Present Moment
Released 31 January 2018     Subscribe: iTunes | Stitcher

In this session, you’ll hear me coaching Liz Scott. What starts out as a 'tactical' question about coaching packages (what's involved, how do they work etc) turned into a much deeper conversation about value, integrity and who you really are. Liz is a coach and trainer who works with a wide variety of individuals and organisations, ranging from police forces to education authorities. She collaborates with schools and works directly with children, teachers and head-teachers. And one of the interesting things about Liz is that she worked as a reporter and producer for the BBC for 12 years. And following this coaching session, Liz went on to train with me as a Clarity Coach. For full show notes, please visit https://www.jamiesmart.com/pcp12

#PCP010: Sharon Chapman - There's Nothing Wrong With You
Released 03 January 2018     Subscribe: iTunes | Stitcher

Sharon Chapman is a former headteacher who has relocated from the UK to the Canary Islands. During this session, I coach her around connecting more easily with people, and taking action to move forward with things outside your comfort zone. Sharon started by telling me she gives off a 'vibe' that has people avoid her, because she thought there was something wrong with her. But as you'll hear from this session, that's just a commonplace trick of the mind.

When we started the call, he told me that he sometimes feels uncomfortable in social or 'networking' contexts, and believes he needs to get better at that. As we dive into it, we discover that what's been getting in the way is an extremely common fear; something that countless coaches and transformation professionals share. Nicky is a coach who works with a wide range of clients from individuals with panic attacks and anxiety to helping entrepreneurs and businesses with a variety of issues. In this episode of the show, I coach Russell Davis, a performance and mind coach. Russell works with his clients using a coaching package model, but he noticed that he wasn't always offering potential clients the size of package he really thought they needed. It turns out that the reason why was because of fear of rejection, judgment and criticism. At the start of the session Russell said he wanted to play a bigger game, so that he could inspire his clients to do the same. During the session we explored the whole domain of courage, and Russell discovered that his challenge wasn't the one he thought it was!
