Lots of people are looking for leverage – the ability to amplify the results of your efforts. But what’s the ultimate leverage point? In this brief video, you’re going to discover “the ultimate leverage question”. Your answer to this question will reveal the “edge” of your model of reality. I love the dog-chasing-tail story; it’s very effective. Also like your new video format.

I know when I’m slipping into seeing the world from outside in as I start to feel tight and anxious. When I recognise this I understand that, just like the dog, I am running around in circles and I need to let go, quieten down and then I am back to knowing that circumstances can’t upset me, only I can do that with my thinking about the circumstances. Thank you for explaining this so clearly.

The dog chasing it’s tail metaphor is so impactful and I’m sure many if not most people can relate to the I’ll be happen when syndrome.

    I know I certainly have.

    Thanks for teaching this stuff.

Really great video Jamie. For me I also “heard it” as it’s your tale, rather than tail. As if to say it’s my “story” of life if that makes sense….

Thanks Andrew – nice one – it’s one of those things that can work on many levels apparently 😉 See you soon, BML J

There’s so much power in seeing through the “I’ll be happy when” illusion. To me it was a game changer when I realised I didn’t actually need (or even want!) any of the things I’d been working toward, working for and chasing.

Thanks again for making this so clear

Woof! Love it! Thats me… The guy that says “i understand that intelectually” help!?

      October 7, 2012 Reply

Hey Rich – I think we’re all the guy who says “I understand that intellectually” some of the time. My suggestion is to keep looking in this direction, and maybe listen to the audios and watch the videos “like you’re listening to music” ie. without trying to figure it out. It’ll hit you. Thanks again, Best J

Very interesting things you mention Jamie. The inside out understanding and the hamsterwheel idea really grasp me. Thanks because my eyes opened a bit further, I’ve been intellectually understanding this for a while, but after reading these first few chapters of your book it moved to a little insight as you call it 😉

What’s fascinating is that these ‘outside-in’ and ‘hamsterwheel’ ideas deliver the same strange situation zen masters and their students cross again and again: There’s an interesting paradox hidden in all this. Because in a way, everything is already present (in yourself). The only thing is to know , see and accept that it is. You actually don’t have to do or archieve anything to learn this…. And here’s the paradox, because without doing anything how can there be knowing and seeing??

So how do you see this paradox, do you think there is one?
Personally I think of the most important things is to recognize and accept the paradox as it is.

Jos. The duality of life or paradox is a result of our personal mind thinking it’s separate from the impersonal mind.
If anyone experiences a deep understanding or “seeing” in a deeper way just how life works then the paradox disappears. It’s part of the illusion we innocently create as we live a life without knowing that we create it from inside out. There is, in reality, only one life. Which we are a part of but we easily have fooled ourselves due to the way it looks from the outside in.
The web site is not mine but a suggestion for anyone wanting a deeper spiritual understanding.
      All the Best,
      Robin

          Hi Jamie,

Nice job with the blog. Great videos and info.

I'm a proponent of the 3 principals and do my best to live the life they offer. I'm like everyone in that I lose sight of the truth of our existance and get caught up in the importance of my own thoughts. However the best definition of sanity I've heard lately is, in one word, resilience (via Dr. George Pransky). So we all can enjoy finding ourselves again and again.

Thank you for sharing your understanding and keeping it pure.

          Robin

Thanks a lot for sharing this Robin,

Only after almost entirely listening the recordings of a 2 day seminar Jamie shared, I get the value of the link your share. And I see how these ideas make sense. So really big thanks 🙂  Do you know of some (online) communities with people exploring this subject??

Greetings and Have a Nice Year 😀 !

Hi Jos. Thanks for posting. In answer to your question, I’d offer that “the paradox” is a product of the intellect, but there’s something real and meaningful beyond the intellect. You’re looking in the right direction (as I said to Rich, above) keep looking in this direction, and listen without having to figure it out. You’ve already had many insights over your lifetime, haven’t you, already seen some things that have made a big difference to you, so there’s more to come 🙂 Enjoy! Best, J

        Thanks Jamie and Robin!

I've been listening through the recordings of the Superstart Seminar and that really switches me on. Especially the idea where you mention that 'how we're feeling is a continuous feedback loop on the quality of thought' This is an approach to the 'all we perceive is illusion' part I've not yet heared off.

Besides, can you share some interesting reads in form of booktitles  or video's and stuff on this whole idea? So I can explore this more indepth?? Thanks a lot 🙂 Also thanks a lot for sharing the Seminar, however the title makes me itchy, it's truly gold that's inside 😀

        Best Wishes!

        Jos

Jos, If you like the feelings from exploring the inner life then you're there! You take those feelings and share them with all you know without analysis and you're bringing others along. It's a process that lives beyond our self made world but we are a part of it and with reverence and gratitude we share love and evolve.

Understanding that relying on possessions, people or circumstances as the source of my happiness is a false reality is so freeing – yes it’s lovely to have “nice” things and lovely people around me – but my happiness is always within me and needs no external stimulii to feed it.

    Deep peace.

The dog chasing it’s tail is my favourite of your metaphors for how insights impact us.

The clarity with which you describe the ‘ I’ll be happy when ‘ outlook makes it a powerful reminder for me.

Hi Jamie, I came across your voluminous material a few months ago and am very impressed with your scope of work over the years. It has evolved like an acorn tree. My comment on this video is this: I’ve been struggling with “scrubbing” (possibly similar to the tale chasing story). Also been exposed to the paradox of working with “ease and flow” (from within) and working long and hard (from outside). To me, the key word is LEVERAGE. When I listened to you talk, pictures and sounds came to my mind related to what I have heard over the last six months or so – find SOMETHING to feel good about – even happy, and that allows room for the other good things to become visible and experienced. The image and sensation of a fulcrum is very helpful to me in leveraging my wants and desires with calling up feelings of goodness and happiness. THANK YOU!!

That's a great question! I use it with pretty much all of my coaching clients now. It lets me peek into their model of the world, and shows me where I can start working with them.

Love the dog-chasing-tail metaphor. It's really the difference between knowledge & insight. Plus it occurs to me we really are chasing our tales when we're trapped in "I'll be happy when…" thinking.

    Brilliant. Cheers!

I've always thought that everything is just an understanding and I haven't found the understanding I'm looking for yet, but I'm hopeful that I will here. Thanks

Good to clarify what insightful understanding is and what helps to differentiate what is intellectual vs insightful to move from one to the other.
