Human beings have an extraordinary job to do from the moment we are born. We need to create a map of reality that’s “good enough” for us to navigate our world and accomplish the things that matter to us. The child instinctively knows their map is provisional, so it gets updated quickly and easily when presented with new data from the world. At certain points, parts of the map get solidified into “beliefs”; patterns of thought and sensation that are experienced as “actual reality”. Beliefs are always developed to serve a person at a certain point in life. They help us make sense of the world, make predictions and make decisions. But here’s the thing: The world is dynamic; beliefs are static. |

#113 – COACHING DEMO: Am I Good Enough – Thriving Coaches Podcast
Released 17th July 2023 Subscribe: Spotify | iTunes | Stitcher | YouTube
Hi. I’m Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast. This episode is a coaching demonstration I did at one of my recent “Coaching Impact Accelerator” workshops. The Coaching Impact Accelerators are taster sessions for people who are seriously considering joining one of my larger programmes to have an experience of what it’s like to work with me. The sessions include a variety of elements, including a coaching demo with one of the participants.
The demo you’re about to hear was with Caroline Delaney, a Mental Health and Wellbeing Educator who wanted to get clarity on purpose and direction in her work life. And as you’ll hear, what started out seeming like it was about “practical stuff” turned out to be about something much deeper that affects many coaches and changeworkers; the question about whether or not they’re good enough. It turns out that the “Am I good enough?” question typically includes a confusion of two categories: skill-level and identity-level.
#112 – INTERVIEW: Wisdom Doesn’t Have Rules, Sam Goldfinch – Thriving Coaches Podcast
Released 11th April 2023 Subscribe: Spotify | iTunes | Stitcher | YouTube
Hi. I’m Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast. This episode is called, “Wisdom Doesn’t Have Rules”, and it’s a recording from the Clarity Coaching Experience event we held last month. The theme for the event was focused on increasing your confidence as a coach, what I call “Impact Certainty”, and it was a great weekend. And one of the things we did was I had ‘fireside chat’ conversations with Clarity Coaches who are making a big difference in the world, and I picked their brains about their impact with their clients, and how this understanding has helped them increase that. So in this podcast, you’re going to be hearing one of those, a conversation I had with my dear friend and colleague, Sam Goldfinch.
#070 – INTERVIEW: Coaching in the Midst of Crisis with Mahima Shrestha – Get Clarity Podcast

Hi. I’m Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast. I’ve called this episode, “Coaching in the Midst of Crisis”, and it’s a recording from the Clarity Coaching Experience event we held earlier this month. The theme for the event was “Increasing your Impact Certainty” and it was a beautiful weekend. We had coaches joining us from all around the world, and there was a lovely sense of community, with lots of profound insights. And one of the things we did was I had ‘fireside chat’ conversations with Clarity Coaches who are making a big difference in the world, and I picked their brains about their impact with their clients, and how this understanding has helped them increase that. And my idea for this was that we would be talking shop; the kind of conversation that I have with my colleagues over coffee, and that most people never get to hear.

FSOC – The world needs the real you, more than ever
As you probably already know, the 10th-anniversary edition of my book CLARITY has been in people’s hands for the last couple of weeks. I’ve spent a big chunk of the last few years working on this, and I’m excited to see how it lands. In the past, I put a lot of energy into climbing the bestseller charts. It was a lot of fun, and I feel very grateful for all the support from my amazing community (CLARITY was a big number one & RESULTS made the Sunday Times bestseller list). Thank you! This time, my aim is different. |
FSOC – Magic mushrooms, mistakes & mystical experiences
The 10th-anniversary edition of CLARITY is being well-received; it’s wonderful to see my Facebook feed filled with wonderful photos of people holding their copy of the book, and saying what a difference these principles have made in their lives.
One of the changes with the new edition is a “What the Research Says” section at the end of each chapter. This is a description of (and where possible, a link to) peer-reviewed articles and other research that will help you “read around” the principles behind clarity.
Because these principles aren’t yet part of the scientific mainstream, most research won’t refer directly to them. Nevertheless, each of these research elements will help you join the dots as you establish your own personal evidence base for what you’re learning.
Chapter 2 is called, “The Power of Insight”, and I thought you might enjoy the ‘What the Research Says” section at the end of it, as it references something gaining a lot of media attention recently: the whole domain of magic mushrooms and ‘psychedelic-assisted’ therapy.
